Suede skirts are a trend that I’ve been loving all year and now it’s finally cool enough in Texas to wear them! I love mixing and matching textures in my outfits all year round but I think I have the most fun with it in Fall, when I can break out those heavier materials like suede and leather without dying from a heat stroke.
I personally love mixing flowy tops with suede skirts. I think the suede adds just the right amount of structure and can instantly take your outfit from basic to boho. So next time you want to reach for another boring pencil skirt, try swapping it out with a suede skirt for trendy, boho chic look. (I linked a few of my favorites at the bottom!)

The Nordstrom Fall Clearance Sale is officially here! And I’ve picked all of my fall favorites for you to shop right here on my blog for up to 40% off.
Think florals are just for spring? Think again. Florals are currently one of the top trends for fall. I’ve been seeing everything from floral dresses, tops, scarves, and skirts from my favorite designers hitting the shelves and flooding my Instagram feed, and I have to say I’m loving it! I love the feminine vibe of florals and I think it brings in all the fresh feels for fall. Especially here in Texas, when it’s still too hot for cozy sweaters and scarves.
I loved this light floral top, with an attached tie that I styled tied in the back rather than the front to create a choker illusion. I paired it with skinny jeans and these adorable suede fringe heels that are perfect for Texas fall and my current obsession. And of course this Zac Posen handbag which added a pop of olive tones and textures.
So keep your sweaters and scarves! I’ll be in Texas rocking fall florals and fringe while we’re waiting on this cold front to hit.
I have always had a love for watches. I love being able to add that little extra something to my look, and hey, what do you know, they’re functional too! I am currently into the more minimal trend when it comes to watches. I like a very chic and elegant timepiece vs a super blingy piece these days. Which is why I am obsessed with this piece from Daniel Wellington! The black leather band against a white face screams minimal. This piece also features rose gold hardware and tiny Swarovski crystals around the face (not too ‘blingy’, I promise). This is just one of the gorgeous pieces by Daniel Wellington. They offer tons of different colors and styles, even watches for men! My boyfriend even has one and wears it daily. He says he likes it because its “Very nice, but not at all flashy.” and I would have to agree.
I survived my very first Austin City Limits Music Festival y’all and had a great time doing it! The weather was great and music was phenomenal but, my favorite thing about music festivals, as you know are the outfits that come along with them! Even though I won’t be attending weekend 2 of ACL, I’ll still send you off with a little outfit inspo to get you through the weekend, as well as a little flashback from weekend 1 and the 3 outfits I wore.
The Platinum passes I managed to score came with many extra perks, including an ACL swag bag, free breakfast tacos, lunch, dinner, and snacks catered by chef Tim Love, an open bar in the beautifully decorated and air conditioned Katie Kime Platinum Lounge, a private viewing area right next to each stage, and private golf cart rides around the park, to name a few. It was pretty freakin’ sweet, I’m not gonna lie. Some of my favorite performers this year were Major Lazer + Diplo (which I saw at the ACL late night show at Emo’s), The Chainsmokers, Haim, Cage the Elephant, Kendrick Lamar, Radiohead, Flume, Kygo, LL Cool J, and Mumford and Sons, which I got to see up close from the Platinum viewing area. It was an incredible experience. I also got to stay at the beautiful, new, South Congress Hotel, which I am now 100% obsessed with. The moody, understated, loft style decor in that hotel is basically what I want my future home to look like someday.
What I Wore for Weekend 1
Day 1: I wore a DIY dress that I made out of a Metallica Tshirt that I cut to create a choker illusion/deep v neckline. I layered the dress over a lacy bralette, (alá Kendall Jenner). I tied a basic denim shirt around my waist and added a vintage belt and booties to complete the look.

Day 2: I wore a grey knit tank over a lacy bralette with high waisted distressed denim shorts, an oversized black belt and black bomber jacker wrapped around my waist. I added a cool leather bolo necklace, suede crossbody bag, and brown leather booties to complete the look.

Day 3: I wore an ivory faux suede halter dress with an oversized belt, and a denim shirt wrapped around my waist. I added a crossbody bag, brown leather booties and a statement cuff to complete my look.
If you’re like me, you know that situational dressing is a must! Especially at a music festival. If you’re really like me, you wait until the last minute to pack and figure out what the heck you’re going to wear (classic ‘closet full of clothes, nothing to wear’ syndrom). So for all of you who are attending ACL this weekend and still have no clue what to wear, don’t worry, I got you. Here are 3 complete looks you can grab at a Free People store near you!
It’s almost here! Austin City Limits Music Fest! To be honest, I’m a little late to hop on the festival train, but ever since I attended Coachella this past Spring, I am totally on board. I now fully embrace the festival culture. Especially the wardrobe that goes along with it. I am a total sucker for the effortless, cool girl, boho chic look, á la Vanessa Hudgens, looking like a festival goddess. I love pairing denim shorts with flowy tops, ankle boots, and layering on the jewelry and accessories. And by all means BRING. ON. THE. FRINGE.
I loved pairing this light off the shoulder bell sleeve top with distressed high waisted denim shorts. I felt like the light flowy fabric of the top balanced out the edginess of the shorts. I then had a blast piling on the jewelry, adding a sick vintage belt (via my mom’s closet), rounded sunnies, a fringe crossbody bag, topping it all off with a hat, and viola! Now I have the perfect boho chic look and am ready to slay at ACL!
Be sure to stay tuned on the blog and my social media for more ACL outfit posts coming this week!

This is one of my favorite looks on repeat right now. I love the whole athleisure trend happening latelty. Think Rihanna, Bella Hadid, and Kylie Jenner. It’s all about incorporating bombers, sneakers, leggings, caps, and tees in such a stylish way that there’s no chance anyone thinks you’re just headed to the gym. This rosy blush bomber jacket from Missguided is one of my faves. I layered it over this simple white tee to add a little shine to the outfit. I kept the rest of the look neutral and added on a ton of accessories, including a choker, sunnies, jewelry, and an edgy belt with an oversized buckle from Topshop. Another thing I love about this look is that it can be paired with sneakers for day time casual situations or strappy heels for a chic night out. Would you ever rock an athleisure look for a night out? Do you have any looks on repeat right now? Let me know in the comments below! Also be sure to follow me on twitter @chicintheHOT .
Okay, I know what you’re thinking. It’s wayyyy to hot in Texas to even say the word parka! I know, I know. (And in Marfa, Texas, no less.) And you’re right. It is too hot for parkas. But, the parka vest, however, it a whole other thing! Vests are so easy to wear. They can be added to almost any outfit to elevate the look from just boring jeans and a t-shirt to a polished put together outfit. This Topshop parka is my absolute favorite. It can be worn any season and can be thrown over anything from a simple t-shirt to a sweater, to a turtle neck, to a sundress. This parka vest is go to when I need to add an extra layer to any outfit. Do you have a favorite vest or go to accessory? Comment below and let me know!
White denim and this Lack of Color hat are obviously two major staples in my wardrobe right now. But another thing that I’m kind of obsessed with is layering denim on denim. I think adding a denim shirt to any outfit is an effortless way to add in an extra element of “casual-cool”. I like to style them either over a top or wrapped around my waist, which is more ideal in the Texas heat, amirite? Denim shirts are definitely something that I wear any time of year because they are just so incredibly versatile. Layering this Zara denim shirt over a dressy tank by Parker pulled the entire outfit together to create the casual laid back look I was going for. And that’s how you do desert chic, yall!
